Blood Type Survey: Psoriasis

We recently completed a large-scale survey of blood type distributions in patients with diagnosed systemic scleroderma. In order to better understand our findings, we are now conducting a follow-on survey in patients with diagnosed Psoriasis in order to be able to compare the results between these two autoimmune diseases.

While not designed to be a formal scientific survey, this anonymous survey is designed to provide preliminary information about one important question:

  • Is the distribution of blood types among patients diagnosed with Psoriasis the same as the general population?
Who Should Take This Survey
You should complete this survey only if you have been formally diagnosed with Psoriasis.  You also need to know your blood type.  (Note: if you are unsure about your blood type, please call your doctor’s office to see if they have information on file.)

Who Should Not Take This Survey
This particular survey is restricted to Psoriasis patients who do not also have Psoriatic Arthritis.  If you have Psoriatic Arthritis or you doctor believes that you may have this complication, please do not take this survey.

If you are members of any Psoriasis support group or organization, please let them know about this survey as well.

If you have any questions before taking this survey, please contact Ed Harris, Research Fellow, Dept. of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI, USA. Email:
