We are pleased to announce that the Scleroderma Education Project has just started a new YouTube educational channel. Our first video is an overview of the research literature on therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) as a treatment for systemic sclerosis. While this video is targeted primarily at clinicians, it is very easy to follow without a medical background.
In addition to an overview of the published research on the use of TPE as a treatment for systemic sclerosis, it also discusses important topics such as safety, cost, venous access, and other issues that need to be considered when evaluating TPE as a potential treatment option.
Here is a direct link to the video: https://youtu.be/iWT0oW8FRdE. It is 27 minutes long.
One note: if you expand the description that accompanies the video, there are links to a number of additional articles on TPE that you might find of interest after you watch the video. This includes links to our recently published comprehensive review of the research literature on the use of TPE as a treatment for systemic sclerosis, suggested guidelines for individual trials of TPE, and a guide for patients who are about to start TPE treatments.
